Islamorada Florida Fishing Report 5-25-18 Lots to report!

We’ve had some unbelievable fishing the last few weeks on both the Easy Does It and the Capt. Easy and I’ve got plenty to report. Tarpon fishing around the bridges and inshore channels has been excellent. I’m really enjoying doing these trips aboard the new boat. The Conch 27 is such a great platform for any kind of fishing, but so far doing the Tarpon and shark trips on it has been so much more enjoyable than tarpon fishing on the Captain Easy. Fishing has been very good. I think we’ve caught at least 1 tarpon on each of our last 8 tarpon trips with the best trip being 5 tarpon on a 3 hour trip! The evening trips have by far been the best. Tarpon fishing should stay good all summer, but June is by far my favorite month to fish for them and we’ve still got some available trips so give me a call and lets get out there!

Offshore I’m still doing most of my trips aboard the Captain Easy. I’ll still be running the Captain Easy for 1 more year through June of 2019 until I switch to the Conch 27 full time, so if you’ve enjoyed fishing with me on that boat make sure you get out with me between now and then because after June of 2019 I’ll be happy to take you on the new boat, but that will be it for the Captain Easy. In the meantime The Easy Does It will be available for Tarpon fishing as well as last minute offshore and reef trips based on availability.

The fishing offshore for dolphin has been excellent so far this summer! The last few weeks have seen an awesome start to the mahi mahi season and we’ve been finding plenty of fish offshore of Islamorada with lots of schoolies and gaffers as well as some really nice slammer dolphin up to 40 pounds. Also offshore our last 3 swordfish trips have all been successful with at least 1 swordfish on every trip including a nice one of about 120 pounds on our most recent swordfish charter.

On the reef we had another fantastic opener of the south atlantic grouper season. We had amazing catches of big black grouper and gag grouper on almost all our trips this month when we targeted grouper. The yellowtail snapper and mutton snapper fishing has also been very good and both of these combined with the grouper made for some awesome reef and bottom fishing trips. We’ve still got plenty of availability over the next few weeks and months on both boats so give me a call and lets get out fishing!

Enjoy the Pictures.
